Our trip to England at Christmas was very enjoyable, but over too quickly! We really enjoyed seeing friends and family, singing carols and eating my Mum's fantastic food. Rebecca and Benjamin had a great time with their cousins. Highlights of the trip included ice-skating in Hyde Park, living history at Hampton Court Palace and visiting the museums in London. |
| 10 December 2007 | I'm going to be away for a few weeks over Christmas 2007/08
visiting my family in the UK. So I won't be able to respond as quickly as usual to
your emails. Thank you for your patience, and I will respond when I am home in
January. I'm looking forward to buying a few miniatures, as well as sharing the Christmas season with my parents, sisters, brother-in-law, neices and nephew! My children, Rebecca (almost 13) and Ben (10½) are really excited about seeing their cousins, and they're hoping for snow! Rhys and I are particularly keen to see old friends and visit Beverley in East Yorkshire, where we used to live. |

| 27 November 2007 | What a busy time I've had lately - it seems like I haven't done very much miniature quilting, or other sorts of miniature work, for a long time. My sister and her family came to visit from the UK during August, which was fantastic - my children loved spending time with their cousins. And then I changed jobs in October, and I'm now working longer hours. Add to that plans for a trip to the UK to see my family for Christmas, and I just don't seem to have enough hours in the day ... Buit I'm looking forward to visiting dolls' house shops in every British town I visit, and I'll take some miniature sewing with me for quiet moments (what a shame you're not allowed to sew on planes any more ..) | |
| 3 June 2007 | Well, I finally finished the
quilting on my miniature curved flying geese! I don't think I'd make another one the
same, but it has turned out rather effective. |
|
| 7 May 2007 | I spent a lovely day at the Sydney Dolls' House and Miniatures Fair yesterday. There were great displays to look at - the Parisian pavement scene was excellent! And of course beautiful hand-crafted items to buy. I treated myself to a snakeskin suitcase and a lovely wooden jewellery box. Now that I'm back and inspired again, I've painted the picture rails for the living room in my dolls' house, and hope to get them glued in place this week. Then I need to finish the kitchen and bathroom ..... | |
| 3 February 2007 | I've had lots of comments from friends about my profile in Down Under Quilts. Here's a link to their website. I've spent January (our summer holiday month in Sydney) hand quilting a star quilt I made with scraps of fabric from the Paris Flea Market range, and trying to do miniature curved flying geese, which is a bit crazy! | |
| 9 November 2006 | Look out for the
January 2007 edition of Down Under Quilts - I'm featured in the "Meet a Quilter"
section, and my Pastel Twirls quilt is one of the quilt projects for the month. It's
even featured on the front cover! |

| 25 October 2006 | Another busy few months - we've moved house again! The good news is that this time we've bought a house in southern Sydney (after 8 years of renting), so we can drill holes, paint walls and generally make it our own. The bad news is that I'll be working full-time to pay the mortgage, which means less time for miniatures. Or maybe I can sleep less? | |
| 30 June 2006 | One of my miniature quilts - Little House in the Big Woods - has won third prize in the Miniature quilt category at the NSW Quilters' Guild annual show. Here's a link to all the prizewinners from the show. | |
| 18 February 2006 | It's been a busy few months, but regretably I haven't spent much time on miniature quilts. We moved house at the end of 2005, then had the pleasure of visitors from overseas in December and January - my parents came on their third visit 'down under'. I loved spending time with them, especially discussing quilt patterns with my mother, who is a 'full sized' quilter! My mind is buzzing with quilts I'd like to make - tessalating kimonos, tiny pansies, bugs in a bottle ... I'll just have to see how many I can make this year! | |
| 21 May 2005 | This weekend the Sydney Miniatures and Dolls House Show is on in Bankstown. I've been busy over the last few weeks making a set of bookends to display. They include my latest mini quilt - a tiny cat wallhanging, based on a design I saw in a magazine. Click here for photos of my bookends, and the bookends my daughter Rebecca (aged 10) made. NB this page may take a while to load | |
| 17 September 2004 | The November edition of British Patchwork and Quilting (on sale in UK newsagents in mid-October) will contain the instructions for my "Little House in the Big Woods" quilt - I can't wait to see the quilt in print! Click here for a link to the magazine's website. | |
| 21 May 2004 | Quilt kits are now available! I'm pleased with the results of using the special Epson Durabrite ink, so I'm starting to print foundations to go in my kits. | |
| 15 March 2004 | I've bought a new printer - an Epson Stylus C63 - which uses a special water resistant ink. I'm hopeful that I can use it to print foundations for patchwork, and that I'll be able to make quilt kits for sale. But the experimenting will have to wait awhile, as I'm off to the UK and Canada for a month, to visit my family and friends (and visit a few dolls' house shops!) | |
| 24 January 2004 | The January edition of British Patchwork and Quilting has a feature on pages 26-27 showing the winners of the "Small is Beautiful" competition - click here for a link to the magazine's website. I was so excited to see my "Little House in the Big Woods" quilt and all the other fantastic entries in the competition. | |
| 2 October 2003 | Found out today that I'm a runner up in the "Small is Beautiful" quilt competition run by the British Patchwork and Quilting magazine. Entries had to be smaller than 30cm square and use scaled-down techniques. I've won a year's subscription to the magazine, and I'll write up instructions for the quilt to be featured in the magazine next year. | |
| 8 August 2003 | September issue of "Dollhouse Miniatures" published, with instructions on how to make my Pastel Twirls quilt. Click here to see page 1 of the article. | |
| 15 March 2003 | Completed the design of a new quilt project for the September issue of "Dollhouse Miniatures", a leading US dollhouse magazine. | |
| 16 December 2002 | My book, "Patchwork Quilts for the Dolls' House" is published! | |
