2005 Project - Bookends

I belong to a miniatures group based in southern Sydney, called Precious Little Pieces.   This year, for our display at the Bankstown show, we all made bookends.  I chose to make two corners of a modern living room, while my daughter Rebecca, who is a junior member of the group, made a girl's bedroom and a boy's bedroom.

I tried to buy miniature books, but couldn't find exactly what I wanted.  So I spent many hours scanning the covers of my own book collection, then reducing them to 1/12th scale, so I could fill the bookcases with the sorts of books and magazines I read!

My theme was "So Many Books, So Little Time", but I had to include my love of quilting as well - many of the books are patchwork or other craft titles.

My daughter, Rebecca, made these bookends (with a little help from me).   Her theme was "Girl Stuff, Boy Stuff".
